The spirit of my ancestors
I’ve always been a spiritual person, but mother Mary or the catholic faith were something I never connected with…until I really started to explore my spirituality.
I was watching an episode of Beyond Belief about the law of attraction. According George Noory, the spirits of your ancestors are the strongest divine energies around you.
I thought about this. I remembered sitting in my grandpas Oldsmobile, listening to tapes about Mary. The catholic religion was something I was becoming more attracted to. It gave me the most strength and vitality out of anything I tried (diet, exercise, etc). So I decided to try to pray a bit more to catholic divinity.
St. Faustina and Mystic Saints
Then, a friend told me about the upcoming biopic of St. Faustina, “Love and Mercy”. Commitment to the divine mercy made St. Faustina her favorite saint.
The fact that St. Faustina was speaking with the spirit of Jesus intrigued me. I hadn’t learned much about any saints, so my mouth dropped when I learned many saints were mystics.

The Miraculous Medal
I had just moved into my Nonni’s house and I was cleaning her stuff out of the cellar. I swept, vaccumed, and made it squeaky clean. It was where my grandpa used to tinker with things, and I planned to do the same.
I walked into the cellar to grab something, on particularly bad day. I saw a little piece of tape on the floor out of the corner of my eye. I picked it up to throw out but realized something was actually wrapped in the tape. I unwrapped it to find a charm of the Mother Mary. It read “Mary conceived without sin. Pray for us who have recoursed to thee.”
I sent it to that same friend, who explained it was the Miraculous Medal. It was created by another saint, Saint Catherine Labouré, who channeled it through Mary. Anyone who comes in contact with it shares with.
My grandpa was always wrapping things in tape. I knew it was a message from him, and that I needed to keep exploring.
If you’re interested in getting a miraculous medal there are a lot of cute ones out there, like this one from amazon, or even try Etsy.
Marian Consecration
My friend has also told me she learned a lot from a book called “33 Days to Morning Glory“. So much that she bought me a copy. It is a simple guide to a Marian consecration.
Basically, once a day you read a short history, prayer and spiritual guidance based on one of four Marian saints. A Marian is someone who specifically channels Mother Mary. The four Marian Saints featured in the book are: Saint Louis de Montfort, Saint Maximilian Kolbe, Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II.
There was a cycle of negative events in my life as the end of the year approached and I desperately needed a change. I decided to try it.
The messages from Mother Mary to these saints humbled me. They made so much sense. I instantly connected it with other spiritual learnings I had done.
Mary represents the brightest energy of femininity, I realized. She is an energy of mercy, unconditional love and understanding. Just like a mother. Mary emphasized that she is the consecrate, or the energy of creation, as all things are born of her. She is one part of the Holy Spirit, or rather, the Holy Spirt is a part of her.
Retreat to femininity

Finding my own path
I’ve become in touch with my feminine energy, Shakti and many goddesses along my journey of divorce and survival. Mary is now one of my goddesses, and I pray to her often. My ancestors worshipped her, including my grandpa. I feel strong energy from her because of that. I feel her answering my prayers.
I’m still learning so much but right now, I would like to think of myself as an “Upgraded Catholic” — or maybe a Marian Catholic, where I focus on love and compassion above all else.
